This policy explains how Void Lantern Studios handles information in TripPack, our trip planning and packing checklist app. For privacy questions, email support@voidlanternstudios.com.
At a glance
TripPack’s core planning features work with data stored on your device and do not require a Void Lantern Studios account. Some optional features connect to other services: destination search and weather, purchases, cloud sync, and sharing. Those connections are explained below.
Information stored in the app
TripPack stores the information you enter or generate, including trip names, destinations and destination coordinates, travel dates, traveler names and age categories, packing lists, tasks, notes, preferences, templates, reminders, and completion status. It also stores app settings, a randomly generated installation identifier, cached forecasts, and purchase-access status.
This data is saved in the app’s local storage. The app keeps recovery copies to help protect against interrupted saves or damaged data. Core trip records are not automatically uploaded to a Void Lantern Studios server. Your operating system or device-backup service may separately back up app data according to your settings.
Only enter information you want to keep in a travel organizer. You do not need to enter passport numbers, payment-card details, medical records, or other sensitive documents. Information about other travelers should be entered and shared only when you have permission or another lawful basis to do so.
Destination search and weather
When you search for a destination, the search text is sent to the configured geocoding service. When you request a forecast, the selected destination’s latitude and longitude are sent to the weather service. The current weather integration uses Open-Meteo. Like other internet services, the provider can receive your IP address and technical request information. TripPack does not need GPS permission or continuously track your physical location.
Traveler names, packing notes, and the full trip database are not included in those weather requests. Forecasts may be cached on your device. See Open-Meteo’s terms and privacy information. Availability can depend on the app version and service configuration.
Optional cloud sync
If you configure cloud sync, TripPack connects to the HTTPS WebDAV address you supply. When you sync, the provider receives an exported copy of your travel data, including trips, profiles, templates, and relevant settings. Its privacy policy, hosting location, access permissions, and retention practices apply. This is a provider you choose, rather than a required studio account.
The connection credential you enter is saved with the app’s local settings and sent to your selected provider to authenticate requests. It is excluded from exported backups. Sync uses HTTPS for transport; the exported content is not encrypted by TripPack before it reaches the provider. Protect your device and choose a provider you trust. Clearing local data does not delete copies already stored by that provider.
Sharing, exports, and imports
You can export travel information as text or a backup file and choose where to save or share it through your device. Recipients and services you select receive the content you share. Backup files can contain personal travel information; review the contents and destination before sharing. Full exports exclude the cloud connection token, purchase entitlement state, active trip-creation draft, cached forecasts, and native notification identifiers.
Imported data is processed locally. Copies you save outside the app, send to someone else, or upload to cloud storage remain there until you or that recipient removes them.
Notifications and device permissions
TripPack can schedule local reminders after you enable notifications and grant any required permission. Reminder titles may appear on your lock screen according to your device settings. You can change notification permission in system settings. Core planning does not require access to your contacts, camera, microphone, photo library, or GPS location.
Purchases and technical information
TripPack uses Unity In-App Purchasing to communicate with Apple App Store or Google Play, as applicable, for purchases and restoring access. The store processes payment and account information. TripPack processes purchase results and subscription or lifetime-access status to enable the features you purchased and caches that status locally. Void Lantern Studios does not receive your full payment-card details through the app.
Platform and service providers may process transaction, device, network, security, and diagnostic information under their own policies. See Apple’s privacy policy, Google’s privacy policy, and Unity’s privacy policy.
Advertising and support
TripPack does not include in-app advertising or use your travel records for targeted advertising. If you contact support, we receive your email address and the information or attachments you send. We use those details to answer your request, troubleshoot problems, and maintain appropriate support records. Avoid sending sensitive travel information unless it is needed to explain the issue.
Retention, deletion, and your choices
You can edit your travel information in the app and export a copy. Deleting an individual record may retain recovery or sync-deletion information. To clear trips, profiles, templates, preferences, app recovery copies, and app-managed exports, use Delete all local data in Settings. Purchase access information may remain so paid features can still be recognized or restored.
Local deletion does not cancel subscriptions, remove store transaction records, erase device backups, or delete files previously shared or synced. Manage those separately with the store, backup service, cloud provider, or recipient. Disconnect sync and remove remote copies if you do not want them restored later.
We keep support correspondence only as reasonably needed to handle requests, maintain records, and meet legal obligations. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a copy of, restrict, or object to processing of information we hold, withdraw consent where it applies, or complain to a privacy regulator. Contact us to exercise those rights. We may need to verify your request. We cannot directly retrieve or erase records that exist only on your device or with a provider you independently selected.
Security and service providers
Local protection depends on your device and operating system. Exported files are readable by anyone who can access them; TripPack does not promise encrypted backup files. No storage or internet transmission method is completely secure. Service providers may process information in countries different from yours under their policies and applicable law. We may disclose information we hold when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users and our legal rights.
Family travel
TripPack lets trip organizers include child or baby profiles for family packing. Use only the details needed for planning and manage that information responsibly. If you believe a child has sent personal information directly to us without appropriate permission, contact support so we can review and address it.
This website and policy changes
These pages are hosted on Cloudflare infrastructure, which processes network and security information to deliver the site. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy. The studio website does not currently include its own marketing analytics or advertising.
We will update this policy when TripPack’s data handling changes and revise the date above. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent before a material change takes effect.
